Charon sighed.
"I'm bored." he complained.
"Well, go get my red marker then." Persephone told him, drawing on a small piece of paper. She pulled out her knife, and cut a large paper into many smaller ones. Sighing again, Charon stood up. He ruffled Persephone's hair on his way to the stairs, and then searched her desk for the red marker.
He set it in front of Persephone after he found it.
"I'm still bored." he huffed, sitting down across from her.
She said nothing.
"What are you making?"
"A deck of cards. So we can play a game."

When Persephone was done, she explained the rules of the game "Twenty-one" to Charon. He took a swig from her whiskey bottle, and shuffled the cards.
"I'm not very good at math, but I guess I'll try." He gave the deck to her.
"I'll help you, if you need it." She placed a card in front of him, face down. Then one in front of herself. She gave him another card, this one face-up. And the same to herself.
He peeked at his face-down card, then slapped the table.
She gave him another faced-up card. He cursed.
"Twenty-three." he pushed his cards over to her, and they played again.
There was no real value when they won or lost, so they made it a drinking game: whenever you lost, you had to down a shot of whiskey.
The point was, to not get drunk, and still be able to do the math in order to win.
They switched roles every time they ran out of cards.
Charon hiccuped, and gave Persephone her cards. She giggled, and turned them both face-up.
"Twenty-One!" she had a king, and an ace. She happily took his cards, and pushed him the near-empty bottle.
He finished it off, and stood up to grab another from the fridge.
He stumbled to drop the empty bottle with the five others they had downed.
Returning with a full bottle of whiskey, he sat down at the table.
Persephone was shuffling the cards. She gave him his cards, and gave some to herself.
Charon looked at his cards, and slapped the table. She gave him another card.
"I'll stay." he said.
She gave herself a card, and another. Persephone swore, and then proceeded to fall into a fit of laughter.
He had no idea why she wad laughing, she had obviously lost.
Maybe it was the fact that she was absolutely drunk.
Fun Fact in the Kali-verse of Fallout 3: Where Charon, being a ghoul, cannot be easily intoxicated, Persephone is totally out of it after a bottle.

A little thing I came up with after drawing this: kalista-jones.deviantart.com/a…
